Communication between our group

We do all of the group's communication through the phone app "WhatsApp". These are just some screenshots on how we organised the trip and the vehicles that we were taking to the dessert with us to record the film:

It's evident that we don't really have many issues (except my parents travelling during the recording dates) and we have distributed the cameras, props and all the items we need between all of the members in our group. This is a good thing to do because it applies pressure on every member of the group because everyone will now have to attend to the film recording in order for it to be completed. This also helps us not give one person too much responsibility over this project and it divides the workload between the three of us.

Deconstructing first shots

Deconstructing first shots

In this shot we are emphasizing the size of this sculpture to show how big it is and to give some relevance to it. Starting from the bottom to the top at a slow speed gives more suspense to it and also makes the sculpture look more omnipotent. The sun being on top of the sculpture helps by giving the idea of the sculpture being so tall that scratches the sun.

This shot shows that the planet is inhabited and that there is barely any signals of life. This long shot also helps establish the scene that is about to take place. Showing the horizon in one picture from the point of view of a character can increase the feeling of loneliness and allows the audience to relate to the character that is going through that situation.

In this shot we show the wound of the main character and we don’t show the rest of the character, this helps emphasize  the relevance of this wound. The fact that we only the wound could then imply that the character has died because of this injury. And the injury being in a scratch shape implies that the character was attacked (and therefore killed) by a creature with claws that are lethal.

Questionnaire results

Questionnaire's Evaluation
The results of this questionnaire reveal that there is a bigger amount of the male population that watch sci fi films in comparison to the female population. And out of the 100% of people we asked, 82% like sci fi films and only 18% don't like the sci fi films.
It also shows how more people consume sci fi related stories through TV than movies, books or graphic novels.
There is a close opinion on whether remakes or original films are better in the sci fi genre, and original movies came up with a 52% over remake's 48%. And 98% of the people also believe that CGI  and special effects are crucial in sci fi movies, which is a bit alarming because that shows how much sci fi movies rely on CGI to be good and that a good story plot isn't good enough.
These recently mentioned CGI special effects have been believed to change with the years by only a 74% of people, meanwhile the other 26% believe that they haven't changed.
The most popular type of movie is the disaster themed films and the most popular challenges that the audience enjoys seeing the protagonist go through are aliens and monsters.

Questionnaire

Focus group

Here is a the focus group video which we have done with the opening of Terminator Genesis:

How we expected, the opinion of the public towards a sequel of a film  many people consider to be one of the best sci fi films in history was a positive one. With ratings of 10 and 8, we can say that many people enjoyed the trailer (most likely because of nostalgia).

Due to all the fast paced action, epic music and loud noises there was an effect of excitement instantly created and this makes the viewers want to watch the movie, as well as the plot being sort of mysterious which gets the public intrigued and wanting to know what happens in the actual movie. But this exact thing is also a problem because the old noises and action scenes can be cliches and that can get tedious to watch because people are already able to guess what is going to happen throughout the movie and therefore they won't like to spend money to watch it. However, the editing makes up for it with really smooth cuts and good CGI.

The use of flashbacks at the beginning is also a bit overused but there is people that don't like it as well as people that do. And something that we found out is that people usually don't like it when the movie starts with a black screen and rather see the title because is less boring.
And the people we interviewed actually believe that the movie is pretty realistic and that this could be the future for the world, which is something many people like because the realism allows them to relate to the characters. And surprisingly some people think that this film's idea of a future in which the world is fighting for survival against robots can be optimistic, but everyone has got their opinion.

Production company logo

The company is called JDM Pictures because J,D and M are the initials of the first letters of the first names of the three members of our group (J for Joshua, D for Diego and M for Megan). The reason for the company to have the word "pictures" in it is just because many other famous production companies have it so we are just following their footsteps. And the logo doesn't really have much thought behind it. We just searched for a logo designer online and we made a logo from different symbols we could use. And the bird in this logo is just an inspiration we got from companies such as MGM and the lion in the middle of their logo. Also the colors were a random choice made just because we agreed that it looked good.
